Web Design
For the design, we had very clear goal. In as few clicks as possible, show the website visitors the information that they want to know. In this case, this meant introducing the tap house, the menu, the beer selection, and the pertinent business info like location and hours. Because they are a restaurant, they aren’t especially likely to maintain a blog or make regular updates to the site. As a result, we opted for something very clean and simpleāa single page layout.
Search Engine Optimization
For the second part of our project, we had the task of improving the local search-ability of this new business. One benefit a older business has over many new businesses is that they have likely accrued more inbound links, reviews, and have had the luxury of building their reputation over time. In our case, we had to work aggressively to earn natural inbound links as well as work to build their reputation (for reviewing) before they were open.
In the end, we successfully moved them from the third page of Google search results to the fifth result on the first page. While search engine optimization is an ongoing process and needs constant attention, this initial push has made a major difference and has placed them in a much better standing next to their peer restaurants.
